TPN

Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) provides patients with macro and micro nutrients, which include fats, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and minerals through a vein in the body. 

Who NEeds TPN? 

When an individual's digestive system can not absorb or tolerate adequate nutrients properly, due to a health condition, TPN is often used to maintain life and growth.

How is tpn started?

When a physician determines someone may benefit from receiving TPN infusions, the individual will get an IV line inserted where nutrients are delivered directly into the patient's bloodstream. 

Why are people on TPN? 

How Long Will tpn INFuSIONS TAKE?

The length of time for TPN infusions can vary. Usually given daily, TPN infusions can last from 10 - 24 hours per day. 

Length of time on tpn? 

A patient's diagnosis and recovery will determine how long one will be on TPN. It could be weeks, months, years, or lifetime.
